  • I have reached my pinnacle in sports – Nyantakyi

I have reached my pinnacle in sports – Nyantakyi

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi claims he has accomplished all of his goals and does not see the need to return to football.

From 2005 until the Anas Aremeyaw Anas scandal in 2018, Nyanktakyi presided over Ghana’s football governing body. Under his leadership, the Black Stars qualified for their first World Cup in 2006.

FIFA banned the 55-year-old from all football-related activities following the exposé, but he was later exonerated.

After the most recent verdict, there were rumours that Nyantakyi would return to football administration. However, he has chosen to pursue a different career, stating he has nothing more to accomplish in the sport.

“Politics is the ultimate. In all we do…you need political guidance,” he said when asked about his decision to go into politics in an interview with Onua TV.

“I have excelled in Sports. You can’t mention three or four people who are famous in sports in Ghana without adding me. I have reached the pinnacle of my career in sports.

“Apart from Ohene Djan, no one has ever reached where I did in sports. No Ghanaian has served on the FIFA Council. I was the second person after Ohene Djan in the 1960s.”

He clarified that the motivation for entering politics is the wish to use the knowledge one has gained to make a difference.

“I want to use the knowledge, experience and connections that I have acquired for political influence and help the people of this country,” he added.

“That is what motivated and encouraged me to see if I can help in that regard.”

Nyantakyi has formally announced his intention to run for the Ejisu parliamentary seat in the wake of John Kumah’s passing.

  • Passport application fees skyrocketing, with the standard fee rising by 400%

Passport application fees skyrocketing, with the standard fee rising by 400%

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has announced a major increase in the fees associated with applying for a passport as of right now.

The cost of the 48-page booklet will now be GH¢644, while the 32-page booklet under the standard service will now cost GH¢500.

The fees have been modified for those who choose expedited service. The 48-page booklet will cost GH¢800 for the expedited service, and the 32-page booklet will now cost GH¢700.

Following the sector minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey’s December 2018 recommendation for a review to the Parliament’s Committee on Subsidiary Legislation, the decision was made to increase the application fees for passports.

The purpose of this action is to allow the ministry to make up for losses that were sustained during the passport booklet printing process.

Speaking to reporters, Minister Botchwey underlined that, considering the current state of the economy, Ghanaians must pay reasonable fees for passports. She underlined that the government had to subsidise each passport by GH¢300 because the previous fee of GH¢100 did not sufficiently cover the costs of production.

“It is time for Ghanaians to pay realistic prices for passports they acquire to travel beginning next year. The current situation is not sustainable for the state to continue subsidizing passports,” she stated

The ministry’s efforts to maintain financial sustainability while offering citizens’ essential services are reflected in the adjustment to passport application fees.

“You’ve downplayed my hardwork, efforts for too long” – Sista Afia goes hard on TGMA

Ghanaian singer-songwriter Francisca Gawugah, better known by her stage name Sis Afia, has made a strong statement against what she sees as an under appreciation of her contributions to the nation’s music scene, especially at the esteemed Ghana Music Awards.

The music diva expressed her frustration in a Facebook post seen by KobbyJosvan.com. She claimed that the organisers of the Ghana Music Awards scheme regularly ignored and marginalized her efforts in the music industry.
Sis Afia feels that she should be given more credit for her contributions to the Ghanaian music scene, having made a name for herself with hits like “Jeje” and “Weather.” She claimed that, in spite of her commitment and diligence, she frequently gets overlooked in favour of other artistes when it comes to Ghana’s largest awards programme. Even though “Asuoden,” one of her hit songs from 2021, was popular, she underlined that it was not nominated.

The singer continued by saying she knew of musicians who received award nominations but did not submit a nomination.

“Have I offended someone at the high table Ghana Music Awards ?? The fact that Asuoden was a big song in 2021 Zero nominations which I still don’t get. I learnt people don’t even file for nominations but get nominations, the downplay on my efforts ever since i started doing music in Ghana hasn’t been fair to my craft And Yes it hurts because I work soo hard.

“I’ve been quiet for soo long because i have respect for the scheme and I dont want to step on no one’s toes!” She wrote.

Fella Makafui is no more my wife, we are co-parenting – Medikal reveals

Rapper Medikal has disclosed that he is no longer married to actress and businesswoman Fella Makafui.

In a tweet posted on Saturday, March 30, Medikal said that the actress is now his baby mother and that they are currently sharing custody of their daughter, Island Frimpong.

The rapper responded with a tweet to a post on X that identified Fella Makafui as Medikal’s spouse.

“Fella is no more my wife, she is my Baby mother, we are co- parenting now and it’s all good,” Medikal tweeted.

Several fans have expressed shock over the couple’s divorce, and he has since become trending on X.

Although none of them publicly acknowledged it, there were many rumours about their breakup around this time last year.

The quiet regarding their breakup appears to have been broken, though, by Medikal’s tweet.

According to checks, the couple has also unfollowed one another on Instagram, and Fella Makafui has changed her username to no longer include Mrs. Frimpong.

Medikal also revealed in a post on X on Saturday, March 30 that Fella Makafui had blocked him.

In an attempt to emphasise that “God knows I have done my best,” Medikal stated last year that marriage is not for creatives like him and alluded to a potential divorce.

In 2020, the couple wed in a lavish ceremony and welcomed their daughter, Island Frimpong, who will turn four this August.

  • Mohammed Kudus sets West Ham record (Video)

Mohammed Kudus sets West Ham record (Video)

Mohammed Kudus, a Ghanaian sensation, made history at West Ham United by surpassing all other Ghanaian players in scoring records.

Despite his incredible accomplishment, West Ham lost a heartbreaking seven-goal thriller to Newcastle United.

Kudus, who only recently joined the Hammers in the summer, has quickly established himself as a key member of the squad. His influence was felt again when, in a hotly contested match against the Magpies, he scored with a brilliant finish just before halftime to give West Ham the lead.

Nevertheless, despite Kudus’ valiant efforts, Newcastle produced a tremendous comeback and won 4-3.

Kudus’ goal was a major turning point in the match, even though the loss was disappointing because it made him the highest-scoring Ghanaian player for West Ham, surpassing fellow countryman Andre Ayew.

Surprisingly, Kudus accomplished this feat in just 35 games with 13 goals, as opposed to Ayew’s 12 goals in 50 appearances. Furthermore, Kudus has the most goal contributions of any Ghanaian in the Premier League—11 total—consisting of seven goals and four assists.

Kudus has demonstrated his ability with a total of 13 goals in all competitions, showcasing his skill in the UEFA Europa League and the EFL Cup, among other competitions.

Kudus’ incredible accomplishments and unwavering willpower shine through despite the disappointment of the loss, securing his place as a rising star in the Premier League and a vital asset for West Ham United.

  • Let’s Embrace the VGMA – TGMA Experience and Pardon their Flaws – Derrick Manny

Let’s Embrace the VGMA – TGMA Experience and Pardon their Flaws – Derrick Manny

Award events occasionally spark some controversy. Perceived partiality or bias in the selection process is one of the prevalent problems. People might feel that certain artists or players are overlooked or snubbed. The underrepresentation of particular groups or genres due to a lack of diversity is another problem. These are just a couple of the many discussions that happen around awards events. It’s always interesting to see how people’s opinions differ!

Even though identifying, honouring, and celebrating extraordinary contributions made by creatives to the music industry is the main objective of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, now known as the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, these concerns and issues cannot be disregarded.

    Derrick Manny, a Ghanaian entertainment enthusiast and pundit, has written an open letter to the notable TGMA’s organisers and important players. Addressing his concerns, he wrote;

The reality we all have to understand is that award schemes are not Government schools that all the citizens are entitled to a fair share of the cake, even with that at times there are question marks.

Award schemes are business entities, I mean money-making institutions that are working to pay bills on a realistic basis. We should understand that at a point lobbying is allowed especially when you have a strong bond (solid links and plugs) with the Board members who enjoy (PROTOCOL) and other incentives to make their position relevant.

The fact that your favorite artist wasn’t nominated does not mean the BOARD IS WEAK neither biased, or not circumspect, even Christianity does not favor all Christians.

Let’s embrace the new change (VGMA) to (TGMA) with positive energy to accelerate their progress and cement their presence to greatness.

We all have flaws as humans, but don’t let us make it look as if getting a nomination or winning an award is the yardstick to measure musical success.

It’s good to be honored and recognized but in all, God Time is the best ????.

    Congratulations to all the Nominees.

Misplaced priorities – Sarkodie criticizes gov’t over Dumsor at Tema Hospital

Award-winning rapper Sarkodie responded to the unstable power supply that the Tema General hospital’s babies ward experienced on Tuesday.

Shortly after the light went out, a nurse bemoaned the situation in a widely shared video, explaining how the hospital’s incubator babies could potentially die due to the power outage.

“They just turned the lights off at Tema General Hospital right now … The nurse stated in the widely watched video that “the probability that we might lose a lot of babies is high if we do not get light in a few minutes.”

In response, Sarkodie shared the video on his Instagram story and lamented the state of affairs, blaming it on the government’s misguided priorities.

“The impact when we misplace priorities. We pray for these innocent babies,” he wrote.

Recently, there have been unpredictable power outages all over the nation. As a result, a schedule for load-shedding has been demanded by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission and numerous Ghanaians.

Screenshot of Sarkodie’s post on Instagram story

On the other hand, Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh urged those in favour of a load-shedding schedule to submit their own suggested schedules at the launch of the NPP campaign team in the Ashanti Region.

If it was necessary, he urged critics to create their own schedules.

“Let those who want the timetable bring it. I don’t know of any timetable because the ECG has said it is not necessary. Why would someone just wish evil for the country?” he asked.

“I have assured you that we are committed to addressing this issue, and it’s not an instant fix. It’s a gradual process,” he emphasized on government’s intention to fix the erratic power cut.

The Energy Minister came under heavy fire after making a remark that prompted the Ministry to issue an explanation.
