    One person detained by police in relation to the soldier’s shooting at Kasoa

    The Ghana Police Service made a major advancement by detaining a suspect in the deadly shooting incident that killed a soldier in Kasoa. This action was taken in a prompt manner.

    Residents of Millenium City, Kasoa, were shocked by the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at about 4:20 p.m. The soldier was shot by the suspect, identified as Benlord Ababio, and died as a result, according to the Police’s preliminary investigations.

    The victim was taken right away to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa in need of emergency care. The victim’s identity has not yet been released by the authorities pending notification of the victim’s family. Officials from the hospital confirmed that the soldier passed away from his wounds in spite of the efforts of medical staff.

    The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to quickly apprehend the perpetrator(s) of the heinous act in a statement released on Wednesday, May 1.

    According to the statement, “the suspect, Benlord Ababio, has allegedly shot the soldier at Millenum City Kasoa, according to preliminary police investigation.”

    Prime suspect Benlord Ababio is being held by the police while he helps them piece together the events leading up to the shooting. With the arrest, there is hope for justice for the victim and closure for their family, which is a significant development in the ongoing investigation.

    On Tuesday, April 30, a Military officer killed in land dispute at Millennium City near Kasoa incident occurred at Millennium City in Gomoa Nyanyano, near Kasoa in the Central region. A land dispute claimed the life of a military man, and two others barely avoided harm.

    According to reports, the deceased and his friends confronted labourers on a plot of land they claimed was theirs. This is how the altercation started.

    They tried to resolve the matter at the Millennium City Police station, but tensions continued to rise, sources told Graphic Online.

    Previous attempts to ask for police assistance were said to have failed to produce a resolution.

    The residents of the disputed land were allegedly told by the soldiers to stop what they were doing and come to the police station to seek mediation.

    But the soldiers’ disagreement remained, so they went back to the police station to investigate their complaint.

    It was allegedly communicated to them that the Central East Regional Police Command had taken over their case.

    As they were en route to the regional command, they were reportedly engaged in additional fighting, resulting in the tragic death of a soldier.
