    Rapper Medikal, whose real name is Samuel Adu Frimpong from Ghana, has counselled young people not to base their marriage choices only on feelings of love.

    He talked about his personal experience, reflecting on how, despite his best efforts to keep it together, his marriage to actress Fella Makafui ended.

    Now that they are co-parenting, the couple’s main priority is making sure their daughter is happy.

    Marriage is a complicated commitment that calls for more than just love, as Medikal stressed in an interview with Starr FM.

    He stated, “Before you get married, I don’t think love is enough. Love is not enough for two people to get into marriage. Marriage is a whole different ball game. If you love somebody, it doesn’t mean you should get married to them.”

    He cautioned against relying solely on love and suggested that couples seek family support and counselling before making such a big decision.

    Medikal draws from his own experience to provide personal insights that emphasise the significance of marriage preparation and a thorough knowledge that goes beyond romantic sentiments.

    In a recent post on X, the hip-hop artist advised people to follow his advice for a happy marriage, saying that it is not a good idea to get married before having at least seven years of dating experience.

    “Don’t marry a man or a woman you have not dated for more than 7 years. Thank me later.” he shared.

    Renowned marital therapist Charlotte Oduro highlights the critical role money plays in partnerships, claiming that having a stable financial situation is necessary to support and satisfy partners’ needs.

    She asserts that having a stable financial situation is necessary in order to provide for one’s partners and meet their needs in order to improve the relationship and increase its chances of survival.

    She pointed out that it would be risky for a relationship to last in the current regime if the man did not have enough money to support his partner.

    In addition to their mutual affection, Charlotte Oduro emphasised in an interview with Okay FM that having money in a relationship makes one’s partner love him more.

    Money is an essential component of love, so you can not eliminate it. In actuality, love ultimately results in financial gain. Sometimes, relationships involving no money do not work out.

    “When you meet certain people, you fall in love with them, but when money is involved, it drives you further in the relationship,” the woman remarked.

    Counsellor Charlotte Oduro further advised people to put love above money and other presents when they receive them from others who express interest in them.

    “That is me; I have to love you before I can accept anything from you. She continued, “I believe that love should come before everything else.”

    The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has reported that over 168,000 married women cheat on their husbands.

    As per the Ghana Demographic and Health Survey 2022, 3.8% of Ghanaian married women reported having an extramarital affair.

    A mere 0.9% of women in marriage acknowledged being in multiple relationships. In Ghana, 4.0% of divorced, separated, or widowed women have more than one partner, and 46.6% have had sex outside of marriage or cohabitation.

    Furthermore, 46.1% of women aged 15 to 24 report having had sex with someone other than their spouse or cohabitant, and 3.5% report having multiple partners.

    Nonetheless, the survey found that 17.5% of Ghanaian men in marriage have extramarital affairs.

    Out of every ten, it was stated, have two or more partners who are not married.

    The survey’s shocking finding is that 17.5% of married Ghanaian men have extramarital affairs.

    This means that roughly two married men out of every ten have more than one extramarital partner.

    18.4% of these married men have engaged in sexual activity with people other than their spouses, according to further data analysis.
