My tigers are expensive to keep, I feed them with a cow every 3 days – Nana Kwame Bediako

The New Force Movement’s founder and well-known business magnate from Ghana, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has disclosed that his tigers, or majestic companions, are still with him and are flourishing under his watchful eye.

During an exclusive interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, the independent presidential candidate refuted rumours and claims that the Forestry Commission’s Wildlife Division had taken his two tigers.

Insisting that no one could take the animals from him, he stated that they had always been in his care.

Cheddar also revealed that the cost of maintaining the tigers is high because he feeds them a cow every three days.

”Nobody took the animals from me, they can’t take them from me. You saw the headlines that I have been given the approval to keep two tigers at home and that is what happened. They have always been in my possession….they are my animals and I feed them. I feed them with one cow every three days. Its very expensive to keep them, ” he said.

The well-known businessman and philanthropist expressed his gratitude to Forest for their assistance in obtaining a suitable facility for his animals.

But following a visit to the estate, Luri Kanton, the Wildlife Division’s Director of Operations, claimed in a media interview that the big cats posed no threat to the occupants.

“We have made the visit to look at the tigers to look at their conditions, the cage they are put in and then we want to assure the general public that the tigers are well secured in this cage and our investigation also reveals that so far, their welfare too is being catered for.”

The animals will be moved once a new building has been built for them, Mr Kanton said at the time. The residents of Wonda World Estates, Avenue Lincoln, which is close to the British High Commission at Ridge in Accra, had expressed concerns, which he further allayed.

“The tigers are safe, healthy and well protected and relocation will be done after investigations and a new structure would’ve to be constructed at a new location before the relocation of the animals could be done”.

  • I’m the new IMF for Ghana – Cheddar

I’m the new IMF for Ghana – Cheddar

The founder and leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has promised that if elected president, he will mobilise Ghana’s resources to ensure that the nation never again needs assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He supported this with a story about how, even though he earned a significant portion of his income overseas, Ghana supplied the majority of the resources he used to do so.

“Although I made half a million outside Ghana, all the industrialisation and projects I have in my empire came from the resources I mobilised in this country,” Mr Bediako said in a radio interview.

Asserting effective resource management is a top priority, the independent presidential candidate hinted that Ghana could quickly achieve socioeconomic stability and self-sufficiency.

“I am the new IMF for Ghana if I can find a solution for Ghana to gain $10 billion to $30 billion within 4 years,” he added while outlining his vision for revitalising the country’s economy and improving the standard of living for the ordinary citizen.

In the same spirit, Cheddar declared that, should he be elected to the highest position in the land, he would lead the entire nation with fewer than 20 ministers in order to reduce spending and the wastage of tax payers’ money.

Regarding the contentious topic of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning (LGBTQI+), Mr. Bediako recommended the media to hold off on demeaning the issue since they were calling people’s attention—especially young people—to it.

“I was brought up in Ghana, and I know nothing about LGBTQI+. I think we were not taught that, and we must be cautious about how we are making it popular through various mediums,” he explained.

In addition, when questioned about it, Cheddar stated that he was in favour of modifying Ghana’s 1992 Constitution to ensure good governance and to reflect modern times, but that it should be done gradually to avoid completely ruining it.

“I think the constitution of Ghana should be reviewed slowly. If you try to change something with force, it can be broken,” the Leader and Founder of the New Force said.

Using the occasion, Mr. Bediako urged Ghanaians, particularly the younger generation, to join and support the New Force, claiming that it was their only chance for salvation.

Nana Kwame Bediako pledges to extend the sea to Kumasi

Leader of The New Force Movement and well-known figure in Ghanaian business circles, Nana Kwame Bediako, is currently mired in controversy after making the audacious pledge to extend the sea from Ghana’s coast into the landlocked Ashanti Region of the nation.

Known as Cheddar, Nana Kwame Bediako, who is adored by many as “Freedom Jacob Caesar” or just “Cheddar,” has generated a lot of discussion, with some doubting the viability and usefulness of his pledge.

Bediako described his ambitious plan in an interview with Kojo Marfo on Abusua 96.5 FM in Kumasi. He drew inspiration from the revolutionary experiences of other countries that have extended maritime transport routes inland. He remarked, “Why are we still transporting individual containers by road when the sea could offer a faster and more efficient means?” Bediako enquired, pointing out the flaws in the present transport infrastructure. He lamented, “I want to open up the East and Western Corridor infrastructure. I want to build power stations, and energy stations, connect the gas, create industries, and bring technology.”

Bediako’s plan goes beyond simple logistics of transportation. His vision calls for a thorough reconstruction of Ghana’s infrastructure, with a focus on the Eastern and Western Corridors. This covers the construction of gas connections, power plants, energy facilities, industrial complexes, and the incorporation of state-of-the-art technologies.

Additionally, Bediako challenges Ghana to utilise its abundant resources for the production of electronic devices using locally sourced materials like plastic and lithium. He also advocates for a shift towards value addition and local manufacturing.

On the other hand, there is widespread doubt about Bediako’s proposal’s viability. Many raise concerns about the financial, environmental, and technical difficulties in extending the sea into the Ashanti Region. Opponents claim that this kind of project would need enormous planning, enormous investment, and possibly negative ecological effects.

Known as a “listening tour,” Bediako is currently touring the country in order to interact with common Ghanaians and incorporate their suggestions into his platform for the next national election.

KK Fosu declares support for Cheddar’s The New Force

Ghanaian highlife legendary Kaakyire Kwame Fosu, better known by his stage name KK Fosu, has declared his support for Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, and his initiative called “The New Force.”

“I belong to the New Force Movement. “I want to express this clearly while revealing my face,” KK Fosu declared.

This statement follows the release of a new song by KK Fosu called “Back to Sender,” which takes aim at Cheddar’s critics after a run-in with the authorities over the cancellation of his rally at Black Stars Square.

“Sudwe” crooner stated, “Members of the New Force Movement are freedom fighters whereas those in the traditional political parties are driven by personal interests rather than the welfare of the nation,” in explaining the distinction between the NFP and NDC and the New Force Movement.

He’s out with a new single titled “Back To Sender”.

KK Fosu clarified, “I am sending fire to any negativity against him, us, or anybody who is our enemy,” in response to a question about what inspired his song.

GRA chases Nana Kwame Bediako ‘Cheddar’ for tax evasion

For tax evasion, GRA is pursuing Nana Kwame Bediako, aka “Cheddar.”

In the upcoming general elections in Ghana, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as “Cheddar,” has declared his candidature for president. However, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has accused him of tax evasion.

Cheddar was fined GH¢50,000.00 for failing to file personal income tax returns from 2013 to 2016, according to a trustworthy source at the GRA.

“He once again failed to file his returns for the post-2020 period, despite settling a sum of GH¢209,171.00 between 2018 and 2020,” the source claimed.

According to the source, Cheddar’s tax assessment for the years 2021–2022 was estimated by the GRA to be GH¢2,088,228 and GH¢5,096,536 respectively, plus penalties for not filing his personal income tax returns.

In the upcoming general elections in Ghana, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as “Cheddar,” has declared his candidature for president. However, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has accused him of tax evasion.

A dependable source at the GRA stated that Cheddar was fined GH¢50,000.00 in total for neglecting to file personal income tax returns between 2013 and 2016.

The source stated, “He once again failed to file his returns for the post-2020 period, despite settling a sum of GH¢209,171.00 between 2018 and 2020.”

The source expressed worries about Cheddar’s role in a tax evasion scandal, saying it calls into question not only his financial behaviour but also his dedication to the advancement of the country.

According to the source, “his actions set a worrisome example for the ethical standards expected from individuals in influential positions.” He was a presidential candidate and a self-proclaimed saviour of Ghana.

The GRA’s hefty fines underscore the gravity of Cheddar’s tax evasion and the need for accountability and openness, particularly from those who profess to support national advancement.

The source underscored the significance of personal income tax as a vital repository of data concerning an individual’s asset holdings and investment endeavours.

It is essential for locating possible undeclared or dubious income, including transactions like asset purchases. The ongoing refusal to pay fines rather than merely reporting income raises more serious concerns about the sincerity and moral character of a candidate for president, the source added.

It should be highlighted that this scandal is about more than just a person’s failure to pay taxes; it is also about the effects of tax evasion on society and comparing the words of an aspirant president to his actions. The resources available for vital public services, infrastructure development, and initiatives to end poverty are reduced by tax evasion, the source claimed.

  • The media has a mission to undermine Cheddar – Da Hammer

The media has a mission to undermine Cheddar – Da Hammer

Music producer and entrepreneur Hammer has responded to Nana Kwame Bediako’s humble beginnings and his presidential campaign by embarking on a media tour.

The New Force’s founder, Nana Kwame Bediako, better known by his stage name Cheddar, urged Ghanaians to focus on the advancements he can bring about for the nation rather than questioning the source of his wealth.

Speaking on Tuesday on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen, Mr. Bediako stressed that rather than criticising or questioning those who have achieved great success, Ghanaians should celebrate and learn from them.

“I can not question someone who earns money and chooses to spend it. Even if he wants to spend his money on beer and khebab, he can choose to use it however he pleases.

He disclosed that he started making money while employed for a telecom company, which he eventually sold and started reselling leftover parts.

“It started with scraps and eventually accumulated piles of scraps, which I then gave to the steel yards.” Steel is purchased by steel yards, and as of right now, a business called B5 also purchases scraps, which it uses to make iron rods and then sells.

“I started a business in Ghana with the money I made, and I am investing in the business.” He questioned, “So what do Ghanaians like if they do not like this?”

Hammer responded to this on social media, voicing concerns about possible media sabotage as they attempted to discredit him by posing queries regarding his wealth source.

According to him, radio and TV hosts’ assertions that Ghanaians are curious about Cheddar’s source of wealth are baseless and are part of a plot to malign Cheddar’s reputation.

He wrote; “Ghanaians aren’t asking anything. It’s the media that’s on an agenda to discredit him before he’s heard. Simplicita”.

  • Concerns regarding the revocation of the Convention 2024; Did they ultimately make use of the space? How much money is being refunded, and to whom?

Concerns regarding the revocation of the Convention 2024; Did they ultimately make use of the space? How much money is being refunded, and to whom?

Following the cancellation of the Convention 2024 by the Office of the President, many would-be-attendees were upset and in uproar for the event scheduled for Sunday 7th January, 2024 at the Independence Square.

The reasoning behind the abrupt cancellation seems to be shrouded in mystery and confusion, given that the contradictory official statement was of a scheduled yet “unforeseen state event”.

It remains to be seen however; how the state event took place despite clear obstructions of the equipment that was mounted for the Convention 2024.

There is also the matter of permit revocation. The permit was revoked from the Black Star Line Festival by the office of the President and compensation awarded to them for their purchase amounting to GHS 10,000.

However, our source from the New Africa Foundation refutes this claim, confirming, alongside receipt evidence that the government gave The New Africa Foundation the license to use the venue from the 2nd to the 8th of January, 2024. This further complicates matters as it means that the government is either paying the wrong entity for the event cancellation or worse, giving license for use of the venue to two separate companies at the same time.

Moreover, the document shared by the NAF, stamped by The Office of the President shows a fee of GHS30,000 paid by the New Africa Foundation in November 2023, not by the Black Star Line. Did the press statement for the government not have access to this file? Was the event even canceled?

    Total amount spent

According to The New Africa Foundation, they spent close to $250,000 on the event planning, setup and execution, a sunk cost they would not be able to recoup without seeking consequential legal recourse against the government for the abrupt cancellation.

Is this right for this to happen in a democracy?

There is a concern among many young people, present at the venue or online, that all these obfuscative tactics of subterfuge, create an impression of governmental suppression. In a year of great economic and financial turmoil in Ghana, the Convention pledged to ‘Ignite the voices of Africa’, offering a change in governance. Such incendiary language possibly caused what many see as an undemocratic suppression of the right to convene and associate, as well as the right to freedom of speech. Many responses following the cancellation of the Convention seem to insinuate that it was purposely sabotaged at the 11th hour due the Government’s fear of support for the messages being shared at this event.

Questions concerning the Ghana’s governance have arisen from the people, asking; Do we live in a democracy where people are allowed to convene and share a message of hope, or are we run by autocratic dictators, ready to stomp on anything with which they disagree.

What does the New Africa Foundation do (Mission)?

The New Africa Foundation’s mission entails disseminating the narrative that Africans are not solely reliant on external aid; rather, they aim to underscore the paradigm shift wherein Africans are poised to contribute aid to the global community. New Africa epitomizes this transformative ethos. Recognizing the prevailing imagery of African children and nations perpetuated by the world—marked by destitution and hunger—the foundation endeavors to cultivate, motivate, and elevate emerging youth in Africa through diverse channels. They strive to facilitate their engagement in impactful modes of self-governance and the establishment of robust business ventures and entrepreneurial endeavors.

    What was the convention for?

The Convention, sponsored by the New Africa Foundation. This event was scheduled to take place on the 7th of January 2024 at the Kwame Nkrumah Independence Square, coinciding with Ghana’s inauguration day. This event was to encompass different facets of African excellence; including thought leaders and artists, all before an eclectic audience including every stratum, community and group that constitute the country, a microcosmic representation for the macrocosmic continent, to Ignite the Voices of Africa. The intention was to; give hope to the youth, encourage the leaders for their great efforts to the continent, and usher in a new, collaboratively-developed vision for the future of Africa’s self-governance.

This event was to be a monumental and historic display of Africa’s ability to join forces and charter a course for a better future.

  • Cheddar, Nana Kwame Bediako, affirms that he is the face of the New Force political movement

Cheddar, Nana Kwame Bediako, affirms that he is the face of the New Force political movement

Nana Kwame Bediako, commonly known by many as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar has unmasked himself as the face behind the New Force political movement.

Speaking after a planned public lecture event dubbed “The Convention,” which he had organised under the brand name, New Africa Foundation was cancelled at the 11th hour, the 43-year-old Nana Kwame Bediako said he had wanted to use another opportunity to unveil himself and talk about his policies and explain why he wants to lead a new force.

He said because he invited eminent persons like P.L.O. Lumumba from Kenya, Peter Obi from Nigeria, Julius Malema from South Africa and Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao from Zimbabwe for the January 7 event to speak on the topic, “Igniting the voices of Africa”, and it was cancelled following a denial of access to the Independence Square at the 11th hour, he decided to use the opportunity to unmask himself.

He said the circumstances surrounding the cancellation is what has made him to unmask himself prematurely and that, he would have wanted to unveil himself and talk about his policies at the right time, he told the press.

He said he was no one to be scared of.

Press conference after New Africa Foundation Convention cancellation
“I am nothing to be scared of. I came to you as your salvation. I don’t invest in myself alone. I am investing in you,” the man who will be turning 44 in February 2024 said and added he has a great vision for both Ghana and Africa.

“We need to educate. We need to uplift our children. We need to voice out to them. You are about to find out about this man in the mask because I never spoke a word, you were looking for me. I didn’t tell you whether I am into politics, whether I am an evangelist, whether I am a conventionist or a revolutionist. After this day, you will have to wait for me to share my policies and my visions with you.

“And if I’m the reason why the country or the government is not happy about these great voices coming to educate not only Ghana, but also Africa, then I take this moment to sacrifice myself, to unveil myself, because I have much respect for these great leaders beside me. I would have taken my own time to tell you that I am. But for this very moment, I am sacrificing myself to let you know that I’m that man.

“But I’m that man with a good purpose, with a great vision. I have a plan, and I have a vision for this nation. And not only this nation, I have it for Africa too. But I know Africa is the next biggest thing because out of all the continents that have been developed in this world, there is only one continent that is not developed and I am sent to do that,” he said.

Cancellation of New Force’s thought leaders Convention
Earlier, supporters of the New Force had thronged the Independence Square chanting patriotic songs as they demanded access to the venue for The Convention programme, which was bringing the thought leaders in Africa together to speak on key challenges confronting Africa’s development..

Meanwhile, a press statement issued by the New Africa Foundation on Sunday night (Jan 7), explained that “The Convention”, a Pan African event, which was to take place today at the Black Star Square in Accra, Ghana has “been cancelled by the Government.”

“We regret to inform you that the Government has cancelled the above Pan African Event which was to take place today at the Independence square in Accra, Ghana. All the special guests have arrived and thousands of people have come from all over Ghana as well as around the globe for this historic event.”

“We have just been informed of the cancellation of this event a couple of hours before its commencement. This event was approved by the government in November of 2023. This came as a shock to us and a devastation to our dignitaries and special guests who flew in from around the world.”

“We at the New Africa Foundation apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to our audience and the public alike. Please be aware that this situation is and was beyond our control,” the statement said.

    PLO Lumumba

Professor P.L.O. Lumumba said, “We came to Ghana to share a message of hope that Africa needs at this time and there is no better place to begin that message than Accra, Ghana.”

“It is in Accra that Osageyefo Kwame Nkrumah almost 67 years ago, spoke to the world and said the ‘Independence of Ghana is meaningless until it is linked with the independence of the African continent’”.

He said 67 years later, they were congregating in Accra in the very same place where the founding fathers of Ghana stood to make that statement but they were stopped bizarrely.

Professor P.L.O. Lumumba, however, said, “the message will be served” as the journey of hope “continues with the youth.”

He said he believes elements are conspiring to distract them from achieving their goal but it is not “an occasion of lamentation but for redoubling our efforts.”

He described the event in Accra as “serendipity” and added that “it heralds a great future for Africa.”

“Looking forward, a meeting such as this will happen not only here in Accra, but I am looking forward to it happening in Ouagadougou, Dakar, Nairobi and Johannesburg because this is about the African continent.”

“We are saying this at a time when we have promised ourselves that Africa is going to be more intimate in our interaction. This is why the African Continental Free Trade Area is headquartered in Accra.”

Revocation of Permit on request to use  Black Star Square for the Black Star Line Festival
Meanwhile, a letter from the Office of the President has indicated that a permit issued to use the Black Star Square for the Black Star Line festival was what was revoked. The letter dated January 7, 2024 stated:

    REVOCATION OF PERMIT

RE: REQUEST TO USE BLACK STAR SQUARE FOR THE BLACK STAR LINE FESTIVAL

“We write to revoke immediately the permission granted per our letter No.OP/PH/02 dated 11th November 2023 which approved your request to use the Black Star Square for the above event.”

“This decision has been necessitated by an unforeseen State Event scheduled to take place at the venue.

“Under the circumstances, the amount of Ten Thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢10,000.00) paid by your office for the use of the venue will be refunded.

“We regret any inconvenience this may cause,” the letter signed by the Chief Director H.M. Wood for the Chief of Staff said.
