Amaechi Muonagor, a well-known actor from Nigeria, died at the age of 62.

Morris Monye, a renowned social media analyst, confirmed the news of Muonagor’s death. On Sunday, Monye shared his profound grief over the passing of the veteran actor on his official social media accounts.

“Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing. He was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was truly masterful,”

“We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India. This tragic loss highlights the need for better healthcare in our country.” Monye shared in his post.

Muonagor’s death occurred not too long after his colleague actor Mr. Ibu (John Okafor) passed away on March 2, 2024.

Many are surprised by Muonagor’s abrupt passing, particularly in light of his recent viral video in which he begged for money to get a kidney transplant.

Amaechi Muonagor was a skilled producer in addition to an actor. His exceptional work in 2016 brought him a nomination for the AMVCA 2017 Best Actor in a Comedy category, demonstrating his skill and adaptability in the entertainment business.

Seasoned Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor has appealed to Nigerians to provide financial support to undergo kidney transplant in India.

The renowned actor was seen lying on a bed and pleading for assistance in a video that went viral on social media.

Kingsley Orji, his Nollywood colleague seated beside him, made a plea on his behalf.

Amaechi Muonagor left the hospital a few days ago because of financial difficulties, according to Orji.

He stated that the illness had affected his speech and urged fans and well-wishers to support him for a transplant surgery.

“It is been challenging. He has been in this state for several months now. He wants to go for a kidney transplant. What we want is for you to help us for him to travel to India,” Orji said.

“He just came back from the ICU in Nnewi teaching hospital a couple of days ago. He was responding to treatment but not very well.

“We decided to bring him home because there was no money but it is not advisable. He barely talks well. Please, he needs your help.”

In 2023, Amaechi Muonagor was diagnosed with paralysis that had affected half of his first leg.

His words: “I’m sick, this thing that is called stroke caught up with me, and from there they rushed me to the hospital. The first hospital they rushed me to was in Nnewi, where I spent some two months and I was referred to Teaching Hospital Nnewi and here I am.

“I was on a movie set with Emeka Ani, Patience Ozokwo, Rita Edochie, and Ebele Okaro. I was about to enter my car when I was struck with this problem and since then it has been getting worse. Right now, I can’t move, I can’t walk on my own. Half of my left leg is paralyzed, my left hand is not movable, so it is a problem for me.

“I’m calling on well spirited individuals to come to my assistance, to see how they can help me. It is paralysis, half of my body.”
