  • GRA chases Nana Kwame Bediako ‘Cheddar’ for tax evasion

GRA chases Nana Kwame Bediako ‘Cheddar’ for tax evasion

For tax evasion, GRA is pursuing Nana Kwame Bediako, aka “Cheddar.”

In the upcoming general elections in Ghana, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as “Cheddar,” has declared his candidature for president. However, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has accused him of tax evasion.

Cheddar was fined GH¢50,000.00 for failing to file personal income tax returns from 2013 to 2016, according to a trustworthy source at the GRA.

“He once again failed to file his returns for the post-2020 period, despite settling a sum of GH¢209,171.00 between 2018 and 2020,” the source claimed.

According to the source, Cheddar’s tax assessment for the years 2021–2022 was estimated by the GRA to be GH¢2,088,228 and GH¢5,096,536 respectively, plus penalties for not filing his personal income tax returns.

In the upcoming general elections in Ghana, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as “Cheddar,” has declared his candidature for president. However, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has accused him of tax evasion.

A dependable source at the GRA stated that Cheddar was fined GH¢50,000.00 in total for neglecting to file personal income tax returns between 2013 and 2016.

The source stated, “He once again failed to file his returns for the post-2020 period, despite settling a sum of GH¢209,171.00 between 2018 and 2020.”

According to the source, Cheddar’s tax assessment for the years 2021–2022 was estimated by the GRA to be GH¢2,088,228 and GH¢5,096,536 respectively, plus penalties for not filing his personal income tax returns.

The source expressed worries about Cheddar’s role in a tax evasion scandal, saying it calls into question not only his financial behaviour but also his dedication to the advancement of the country.

According to the source, “his actions set a worrisome example for the ethical standards expected from individuals in influential positions.” He was a presidential candidate and a self-proclaimed saviour of Ghana.

The GRA’s hefty fines underscore the gravity of Cheddar’s tax evasion and the need for accountability and openness, particularly from those who profess to support national advancement.

The source underscored the significance of personal income tax as a vital repository of data concerning an individual’s asset holdings and investment endeavours.

It is essential for locating possible undeclared or dubious income, including transactions like asset purchases. The ongoing refusal to pay fines rather than merely reporting income raises more serious concerns about the sincerity and moral character of a candidate for president, the source added.

It should be highlighted that this scandal is about more than just a person’s failure to pay taxes; it is also about the effects of tax evasion on society and comparing the words of an aspirant president to his actions. The resources available for vital public services, infrastructure development, and initiatives to end poverty are reduced by tax evasion, the source claimed.

  • “It is none of my business if Shatta Wale fights former managers” – Sammy Flex

“It is none of my business if Shatta Wale fights former managers” – Sammy Flex

Widely recognised as Sammy Flex, the popular host of Class Showbiz, claims he has a strictly professional relationship with Shatta Wale and has no business interfering in his personal disputes because they are matters of private life.

Sammy Flex clarified in a conversation with Graphic Showbiz that, in contrast to popular belief, Shatta Wale interacts with his fans on social media instead of using them to settle scores.

“He occasionally uses Facebook Live to interact with his fans, but the majority of the things he says are unintentional. Regarding his altercations with other individuals, that is not my concern. He said, “I respect that he has a personal life to live.

Being the manager of one of Ghana’s most well-known artists, according to Sammy Flex, has opened up a lot of doors and allowed him to visit places beyond his previous reach. (Read Sista Afia’s story, “Broken heart landed me in a psychiatric hospital.”)

“Being associated with Shatta Wale, a well-known brand, has given me additional opportunities.” Being Shatta’s manager allows me to go to certain places,” he remarked.

Sammy Flex stated he did not think it was a good idea for managers and artists to share secrets when asked about it by Graphic Showbiz.

“He has his life to live and I have mine to live. I do not think it makes sense to add personal matters to the already heavy workload. We both understand that our relationship is solely professional.

“He respects my decisions and pays attention to what I have to say. For example, when we decided to call off his stadium show, we discussed it for several hours until we both agreed that it should not go through,” he revealed.

  • The media has a mission to undermine Cheddar – Da Hammer

The media has a mission to undermine Cheddar – Da Hammer

Music producer and entrepreneur Hammer has responded to Nana Kwame Bediako’s humble beginnings and his presidential campaign by embarking on a media tour.

The New Force’s founder, Nana Kwame Bediako, better known by his stage name Cheddar, urged Ghanaians to focus on the advancements he can bring about for the nation rather than questioning the source of his wealth.

Speaking on Tuesday on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen, Mr. Bediako stressed that rather than criticising or questioning those who have achieved great success, Ghanaians should celebrate and learn from them.

“I can not question someone who earns money and chooses to spend it. Even if he wants to spend his money on beer and khebab, he can choose to use it however he pleases.

He disclosed that he started making money while employed for a telecom company, which he eventually sold and started reselling leftover parts.

“It started with scraps and eventually accumulated piles of scraps, which I then gave to the steel yards.” Steel is purchased by steel yards, and as of right now, a business called B5 also purchases scraps, which it uses to make iron rods and then sells.

“I started a business in Ghana with the money I made, and I am investing in the business.” He questioned, “So what do Ghanaians like if they do not like this?”

Hammer responded to this on social media, voicing concerns about possible media sabotage as they attempted to discredit him by posing queries regarding his wealth source.

According to him, radio and TV hosts’ assertions that Ghanaians are curious about Cheddar’s source of wealth are baseless and are part of a plot to malign Cheddar’s reputation.

He wrote; “Ghanaians aren’t asking anything. It’s the media that’s on an agenda to discredit him before he’s heard. Simplicita”.
