    Ewura Abena questions GHAMRO over Gh148.50 royalty payment

    Ghanaian Gospel singer and songwriter, Vida Ewura Abena Yeboah, known by the stage name Ewura Abena has taken to social media to question the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) over a royalty payment she received from the organization.

    The ‘This Far’ singer in a social media post sighted by Ameyaw Debrah Media, questioned the organization which is in charge of collecting and distributing royalties on behalf of authors/composers and other right owners about a Gh148.50 payment she received as royalty.

    She asked the agency if the amount she received as royalty was for just one song or all her songs. She further questioned if it was for a month or the whole year or a test transmission before the actual payment.

    ”Ghamro, please is this Gh148.50 royalty payment for one song, all my songs,one month, one year or just a test transmission before the actual payment.Sika noa nono anaa yenhw3 fofro enim?” she wrote.

    GHAMRO, has found itself under scrutiny for a while now, as stakeholders and industry players have frequently called for a thorough examination of its financial practices. “

    Multiple award-winning rapper, Sarkodie is encouraging people not to easily give up when people doubt their potential but they should rather be motivated to reach their goals.

    In a tweet, Sarkodie, who is currently promoting his latest ‘Otan’ song said people should always know that they are destined for greatness when they have a lot of people doubting their capabilities.

    He wrote: ” Signs :Always know you are destined for greatness when you have a lot of people doubting you… that’s the fuel to get to your full potential”.

    Sarkodie’s message coincides with his ongoing Rapperholic Exhibition, where he showcases his numerous awards, sold-out concerts, philanthropic work, collaborations, and other defining aspects of his successful music career.

    Despite being active in the music scene since 2005, Sarkodie’s debut album, “Maakye,” was released in 2009, and he has since maintained a prominent position in the industry.

    As a two-time winner of the Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards and the Artiste of the Decade, Sarkodie’s legacy is on display at the Rapperholic Exhibition.

    The exhibition, hosted by the Mix Design Hub in Osu in collaboration with Eagle Plug, was initially set to end on December 16 but has been extended until January 2.

    Famed Ghanaian media personality and entrepreneur, Deloris Frimpong Manso, professionally known as Delay has not too long ago shared her life story, shedding light on her not soo smooth journey in the Ghanaian media space.

    According to Delay, she was financially unstable when she first joined the industry. She detailed that people called her all kinds of names including ‘unattractive and ugly’ because she was very poor and couldn’t afford certain basic things that make a woman look good.

    She emphasized that affording basic necessities like body lotion and good dresses during that period proved to be a big challenge, however she never gave up or make that be a threat to her confidence because she knew what she wanted to achieve.

    The media mogul, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Delay Foods made this statement during an exclusive interview on Kumasi-based radio station, Pure FM.

    “I’m really a fighter, if you take a look at where I’m coming from…like when I first came into the industry, people said I didn’t have the looks and I wasn’t beautiful….It was poverty. Poverty is not a good thing because it can really make you look bad. Poverty is a killer disease and it’s the truth.

    “Because I was broke, I didn’t have money to buy a good lotion for my body and I couldn’t buy a good dress for myself. So people saw me ‘someway’. They said I was fat, and not fair.. like I mean they said I didn’t have the standard looks. But all these didn’t discourage me, it strengthened me to become who I am today,” she said.

    “Instead of Samini to protect Black Sherif from the backlash over his #PlayGhana comments, he is there going back and forth with Shatta Wale on X (formerly known as Twitter)”, BullGod asserted.

    Reggie Rockstone, Samini needs to protect the Blacko from these backlashes, he added.

    Da Hammer of the last Two, legendary music producer added his voice, says he expected the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mark Okraku Mantey to issue a statement to fight for Black Sherif for facing heavy backlash for joining #PlayGhana initiative.

    “We know that the person who suffers is Blacko, nobody else suffers on that stage. They (Samini, Reggie Rockstone) have nothing to prove to anybody again.     This update comes one year after Celine announced her diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder characterized by painful muscle spasms and stiffness that typically interferes with patients’ daily lives.

    Due to the disease, Celine Dion had to postpone her highly anticipated Courage World Tour indefinitely in May 2023, expressing her apologies to her fans.

    In an interview with Le Journal de Montreal in August 2023, Claudette expressed optimism about their continuous hunt for therapeutic treatments for the disease.

    Claudette also said that their sister Linda Dion had moved into Celine’s home to help her three sons. René-Charles, Eddy, Nelson, and their aunt are all actively involved in Celine’s treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery.

    GTA honours Okyeame Kwame for contribution to Ghana’s tourism industry

    Award winning Ghanaian rapper, Okyeame Kwame has been honoured by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) at this year’s National Tourism Awards held at Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) recently.

    The honour was in appreciation of Okyeame Kwame’s commitment and contribution to Ghana’s tourism industry particularly in the promotion of Made-in-Ghana products.

    A citation given to him reads, “For your consistency and enormous contribution in spearheading the purchase of Made-in-Ghana goods and services to promote the Ghanaian culture and national identity, you are being honoured with this award.

    “It is admirable that your distinctive dress sense, which embodies both modernity and tradition, have inspired young people in Ghana to adopt the African Sartorial dress style and encourage them to wear Ghanaian clothing.

    “The Ghana Tourism Authority has acknowledged your vision and bestowed upon you an honour today in recognition of your contribution to Ghana’s tourism sector”.

    As a musician, Okyeame Kwame has been at the forefront and used his platform to promote the patronage of locally produced goods.

    And in line with the commitment, Okyeame Kwame released the Made In Ghana album in 2019 to promote Ghana’s culture and heritage.

    Over the years, the National Tourism Awards has endeavoured to acknowledge and honour individuals and entities who have made significant contributions to the development of the tourism industry in Ghana.

    It was established by the Ghana Tourism Authority in 1997 as one of its flagship events of the GTA and it sets the tone for high standards in service delivery among practitioners in the tourism sector.
