Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has become a sensation in Ghana as her Guinness World Record attempt continues to captivate internet users.

Yesterday, on December 29th, Afua completed her remarkable singing marathon, lasting an incredible 126 hours and 52 minutes.

Not only did she surpass her initial goal, but she also achieved a new personal best, leaving everyone amazed. Among the many supporters, Mr Kwarteng, the father of the late Ebony, has extended his congratulations and shared some profound thoughts about Afua Asantewaa’s endeavour.

During an interview with Fiifi Pratt, Mr. Kwarteng disclosed that Afua Asantewaa Aduonum is a devoted fan of his late daughter, Ebony Reigns, who tragically passed away in 2018.

He mentioned a recent media appearance where Afua tearfully expressed her love for Ebony Reigns and how the talented singer had always been an inspiration to her.

According to Mr. Kwarteng, Ebony’s influence on Afua Asantewaa was evident throughout her record-breaking attempt. “Anytime she raises Ebony’s songs, no matter how exhausted she is, you’ll realise her energy is rising. Nana Hemaa is in there to support the cause.”

    Ebony’s spirit appears at Sing-a-thon

    Late Ebony Reigns

Afua Aduonum’s brother has shared a truly astonishing account of a moment when it is believed that the spirit of the late Ebony Reigns visited the soon-to-be-crowned world sing-a-thon champion.

As Afua began singing one of Ebony’s songs, a strange occurrence took place – the back door inexplicably swung open.

Despite her brother’s attempt to close it, Afua insisted that he leave it be, as she believed Ebony had come to visit her. To everyone’s amazement, this surprising incident repeated itself not once but twice, leaving them all utterly speechless.

  • Medical team explains why Afua Asantewaa ended sing-a-thon

Medical team explains why Afua Asantewaa ended sing-a-thon

The medical team of Afua Asantewaa has explained why they advised her to conclude her Guinness World Record sing-a-thon attempt after five days.

The journalist and former beauty queen brought down the curtains on her attempt to break the world record after 126 hours and 52 minutes.

This was after surpassing the previous sing-a-thon record of 105 hours, which was set by Indian Sunil Waghmare in 2012.

Explaining the rationale behind the decision to end the sing-a-thon, the head of Afua’s medical team, Dr Grace Buckman, said there was a need to prioritise her health.

She noted that Afua’s body system has been affected by her sleep deprivation and that she was beginning to show signs of mental stress.

There’s only a point you can go as a person. She has done so well and we are extremely proud of her,” Dr Buckman said, as quoted by the Graphic Online.

We have gotten to a point that as a medical team, her health is very important. At the moment, we want her to rest so she will bounce back to us.

Meanwhile, Afua is now awaiting official confirmation and verification of her new record by the judges of the Guinness World Record.

Her attempt to break the record lasted five straight days, having kicked off from December 24 to December 29, 2023.

Also, several Ghanaian celebrities have stormed the Akwaaba village to lend their support to the journalist and former beauty queen.

In the last five days, actors and musicians, including Becca, Cina Soul, Sista Afia, Kwabena Kwabena, Eno Barony, Kobi Rana, Sarkodie and Nana Ama McBrown, have all appeared in person to support her.

Ghana’s Vice President and flagbearer of the ruling NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was also there to give morale for the record attempt.

  • Kwasi Aboagye, Zapp Mallet apologize to Afua Asantewaa after Ghanaians descended on

Kwasi Aboagye, Zapp Mallet apologize to Afua Asantewaa after Ghanaians descended on

Kwasi Aboagye has officially apologized to Afua Asantewaa on his Facebook page for the verbal abuse he inflicted upon her.

The ace on-air personality unleashed his venom on Afua hours before she started what would have been the longest singing marathon in the history of Guinness World Records.

Kwasi criticized Afua last week on Peace FM for her bad vocal abilities and overly public appearance leading up to her singathon, using his platform.

The host of Peace FM’s “Entertainment Review” program also had concerns about the way she handled some of Rex Omar’s demands, who had insisted on using copyright law to assist her bid to break the Guinness World Record and given her a list of all the songs she planned to perform.

Following Afua’s unofficial breaking of the record at the time of this report, some netizens revisited the issue and began attacking Kwasi Aboagye for his derogatory comments. In light of Afua’s remarkable achievement and the backlash from Ghanaians, Kwasi Aboagye has decided to issue a public apology.

He posted: “Apology It seems to me that a comment made on radio by me prior to the start of Afua Asantewaa’s SING A THON to encourage her to stay focus has been misconstrued—probably due to the tone of my voice. I will therefore like to apologize to Afua Asantewaa and everyone for the comment made and any unfortunate displeasure it might have caused. Go Afua!”

Zapp Mallet apologize to Afua Asantewaa
Zapp Mallet publicly apologized for his previous statement regarding Afua Asantewaa, which resulted in a massive backlash from Ghanaians.

Renowned for his expertise in sound engineering and music, Zapp Mallet took to Twitter a few hours ago to specifically critique Asantewaa’s vocal abilities and perceived lack of stamina.

Furthermore, the music producer asserted that Afua Asantewaa would be unable to accomplish her aspiration of singing continuously for three consecutive days.

He said: “Even professional singers won’t attempt a feat like this without a voice coach around to be coaching what to do. No strategy. Just play, I will sing. I feel for Afua paa. Herrhh! Find some heavy to eat. Singing is for the strong. Don’t let deceive you. Now you see you can’t even hit the key? So off-key. All bcos you tire. Smh. Where are our “famed” voice coaches? The girl is damn tired and she’s losing her voice. Won’t somebody show her how to revamp it? With the way she’s singing? Smh”.

However, the majority of Ghanaians, who have displayed immense support for Afua on her singathon journey, did not react favourably to his remarks and confronted him. Unable to withstand their criticism any longer, Zapp Mallet has now issued an apology.

He added that he supports her just like every Ghanaian.

“Guys, guys, guys, I’m so, so sorry. I just realized I was judging Afua Asantewaa so hard. Plz forgive me. I didn’t know the rules. But I said some of the things out of concern for her. Pls, don’t get me wrong. I’m behind her just like every Ghanaian,” he wrote on his Twitter page.

Portable defeats actor Charles Okocha in celebrity boxing (Video)

After the fourth round, Nigerian street-pop artist Habeeb Badmus, aka Portable, was declared winner of the celebrity boxing fight against Nollywood actor, Charles Okocha, on Wednesday, reports The Punch.

The fight, which was sanctioned by Heritage Boxing Entertainment, held at Landmark Beach in Victoria Island, Lagos State, started after 1am and lasted about 40 minutes.

The pair had finally settled their scores with their fists after Portable alleged contractual issues, which led them to engage in an online feud over an alleged N40m rip-off.

Portable claimed Okocha cheated him out of the money, only sending him a small amount, contrary to a contractual agreement.

In Round One, Portable took the lead early with a confident start.

He was adorning a blue pair of knickers and a blue armless top to match.

He also took full control of the ring and looked to find his range from several jabs to the body of Okocha, who was wearing a red top and red shorts.

In Round Two, Okocha was back in the game as he had been avoiding blows from Portable, and everything seemed to be in his favour.

Okocha gained more ground than Portable had in the entire bout, and he was not giving up on amassing more points despite being in the pole position to win.

His jabs even brought Portable down, and the referee had to come in between them.

In Round Three, Portable was running around the ring to see if he could bounce back into the game and Okocha was following him around.

Portable seized some opportunities to retaliate the blows that were descending on him from the round two fight.

In Round Four, the two celebrity boxers were tired, but Portable was still throwing some direct punches, which caught Okocha unaware.

Meanwhile, when the referee called for Round Five to decide the winner, both of them declined to continue and this led to the eventual announcement of Portable as the winner.

Although Portable did not win through TKO, KO, or even by points recorded, with his victory, he clinched the belt while solidifying his position as the deserving champion in the hard-fought bout.
