TGMA26: Diana Hamilton and Mercy Chinwo’s “The Doing of the Lord” is a top contender for 2025’s Intl. Collabo

As anticipation builds for the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, one song is making waves as the standout contender for International Collaboration of the Year—The Doing of the Lord. This remarkable track, a powerful fusion of Ghana’s gospel icon Diana Hamilton and Nigeria’s sensational Mercy Chinwo, is more than just a song; it’s a divine collaboration that embodies faith, inspiration, and gospel excellence.

For over a decade, Diana Hamilton has been the heartbeat of Ghanaian gospel music, continuously delivering hit after hit that uplifts and inspires. From Adom to Mo Ne Yo, her music has resonated across borders, and with The Doing of the Lord, she has once again raised the bar. The song has shattered records, topped charts, and become a defining moment in the international gospel music scene—perfectly embodying the essence of the International Collaboration of the Year category at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

A Harmonious Blend of Ghanaian and Nigerian Gospel Excellence

The Doing of the Lord is a seamless fusion of Ghanaian and Nigerian gospel talent, where Mercy Chinwo’s anointed vocals beautifully complement Diana Hamilton’s soulful delivery. Together, they’ve created a song that resonates deeply with listeners around the world. From the anticipation surrounding its release to the overwhelming response upon debut, this collaboration quickly became a milestone in Ghanaian gospel music.

The song’s accompanying music video also shines with cultural brilliance. It elegantly showcases both Ghanaian and Nigerian aesthetics, with intricate headpieces, beautiful dresses, and an overarching theme of unity in diversity. One of the standout moments in the video is Mercy Chinwo’s flawless delivery of a verse in Twi, a remarkable feat that had many believing she was Ghanaian herself. This cultural exchange continued when Diana Hamilton, during The Awake Experience 2024, learned the Igbo version of the song, creating one of the most-watched gospel performances of the year.

A Gospel Anthem That Unites and Uplifts

The Doing of the Lord is more than just a song; it’s a movement. With its inspiring message, powerful vocals, and stunning visuals, it transcends borders, making an emotional connection with audiences worldwide. This collaboration is a gospel anthem that brings people together, regardless of culture or background, and has the power to spark nostalgia and spiritual reflection.

Diana Hamilton’s career and character further strengthen the case for this award. Known for her humility, consistency, and unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel through music, Diana has earned her place as one of the genre’s leading figures. Meanwhile, Mercy Chinwo, with her signature energy and anointed voice, has elevated this partnership, proving it to be a divine collaboration destined for greatness.

Why The Doing of the Lord Deserves to Win

The competition for International Collaboration of the Year is fierce, with other impressive nominees such as:

???? Stonebwoy ft. Odumodu Black – Ekelebe
???? Diana Hamilton ft. Mercy Chinwo – The Doing of the Lord
???? King Promise ft. Shalipopi – Continental

Ghanaian rapper Vincent Kwaku Osei, also referred to as Strongman in the music industry, has stated that he is no longer interested in winning the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Strongman said that he is not overly excited about the awards and that he now has a different priority after losing the best rapper category five times in a row.

Joining Ghana Music Awards is not part of Shatta’s plan for now – Sammy Flex
Strongman, who is nominated for Best Rapper for his hit song “Dear God,” claims he is not really thinking about the Awards Night because of his constant loss.

Speaking with Tony Best on Akoma Mmre on Akoma FM on Friday, the “Rap Is Still Alive” hitmaker stated he had more pressing matters to attend to rather than focusing on accolades that still disregard him.

“This is the 6th time I have been nominated for the Best Rapper category and the 5th successive times but unfortunately turned to mirage, so I don’t need to pay much attention so that I won’t be disappointed.

“I always submit my works for scrutiny but I don’t get recognized hence I need to devote my time and attention to things that make me more relevant and always entertain my fans and lovers.

“For the past four years I have never posted my nomination on any social media platform edging my fans to vote for me because of previous experience. I am focusing on other things to make me happy,” Strongman stated.

On June 1 at the AICC, the Premium Awards will celebrate 25 years, and music lovers will be ecstatic about another music festival.
