One person detained by police in relation to the soldier’s shooting at Kasoa

The Ghana Police Service made a major advancement by detaining a suspect in the deadly shooting incident that killed a soldier in Kasoa. This action was taken in a prompt manner.

Residents of Millenium City, Kasoa, were shocked by the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at about 4:20 p.m. The soldier was shot by the suspect, identified as Benlord Ababio, and died as a result, according to the Police’s preliminary investigations.

The victim was taken right away to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa in need of emergency care. The victim’s identity has not yet been released by the authorities pending notification of the victim’s family. Officials from the hospital confirmed that the soldier passed away from his wounds in spite of the efforts of medical staff.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to quickly apprehend the perpetrator(s) of the heinous act in a statement released on Wednesday, May 1.

According to the statement, “the suspect, Benlord Ababio, has allegedly shot the soldier at Millenum City Kasoa, according to preliminary police investigation.”

Prime suspect Benlord Ababio is being held by the police while he helps them piece together the events leading up to the shooting. With the arrest, there is hope for justice for the victim and closure for their family, which is a significant development in the ongoing investigation.

In addition, the Police have stressed that, considering the military’s role in the tragic incident, they are closely collaborating with the Ghanaian Armed Forces leadership. The military’s and law enforcement’s cooperation highlights how seriously this case is being investigated.
