Uganda has arrested Rexxie, a well-known singer and record producer from Nigeria.

The producer of the popular song “KKP” announced his detention by Ugandan Immigration on his Instagram page early on Monday morning. Although he did not reveal the cause of his arrest, he called it unjust. Using the hashtag “UgandaFreeRexxie,” he also made a plea for assistance, asking his followers to demand his release.

“I’ve been arrested at the Ugandan Immigration. “Pls I need help.” he shared.

Rexxie is not the first Nigerian artist to have been arrested in Uganda. It is recalled that Omah Lay and Tems were also arrested, charged to court, and subsequently detained in prison in Uganda. This occurred following their appearance at a concert that took place on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the Speke Resort in Kampala, the country’s capital.

They were taken into custody for breaking the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. But after two days in custody, they were eventually freed.
