Misplaced priorities – Sarkodie criticizes gov’t over Dumsor at Tema Hospital

Award-winning rapper Sarkodie responded to the unstable power supply that the Tema General hospital’s babies ward experienced on Tuesday.

Shortly after the light went out, a nurse bemoaned the situation in a widely shared video, explaining how the hospital’s incubator babies could potentially die due to the power outage.

“They just turned the lights off at Tema General Hospital right now … The nurse stated in the widely watched video that “the probability that we might lose a lot of babies is high if we do not get light in a few minutes.”

In response, Sarkodie shared the video on his Instagram story and lamented the state of affairs, blaming it on the government’s misguided priorities.

“The impact when we misplace priorities. We pray for these innocent babies,” he wrote.

Recently, there have been unpredictable power outages all over the nation. As a result, a schedule for load-shedding has been demanded by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission and numerous Ghanaians.

On the other hand, Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh urged those in favour of a load-shedding schedule to submit their own suggested schedules at the launch of the NPP campaign team in the Ashanti Region.

If it was necessary, he urged critics to create their own schedules.

“Let those who want the timetable bring it. I don’t know of any timetable because the ECG has said it is not necessary. Why would someone just wish evil for the country?” he asked.

“I have assured you that we are committed to addressing this issue, and it’s not an instant fix. It’s a gradual process,” he emphasized on government’s intention to fix the erratic power cut.

The Energy Minister came under heavy fire after making a remark that prompted the Ministry to issue an explanation.
