Growing up, my only goal was to play for the Black Stars – Andre Dede Ayew

Adopted into a Ghanaian football-loving family, young Andre’s eyes gleamed with the desire to pull on the coveted Black Stars jersey in the future.

Expectations were high because he was the legendary Abedi “Pele” Ayew’s son, but he also had a strong desire to leave his mark on Ghanaian football history.

The turning point came when Andre Ayew received a call from the Ghana national team inviting him to play for the Black Stars. It was more than simply an invitation; it was the fulfilment of a dream that had driven innumerable hours of practice, selflessness, and unwavering resolve.

His dreams came true when he entered the hallowed grounds with the renowned Black Stars jersey slung over his shoulders.

Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew spoke at the Ghana media conference, expressing his happiness at having realised his childhood ambitions.

“Growing up I used to travel with the Black Stars when they were going to play a match with my dad, I only had one thing in mind as a kid was to play for the Ghana Black Stars and I have lived the dream for 17 years”

“And every day I come to camp and have the chance to wear this jersey is the best moment in my football career because that is when I feel the most joy. wearing this jersey for me is everything that counts”

“My biggest achievement or legacy from my football career before I hang my boots will be to lift the AFCON title”
