Turkish, Italian fashion designers to collaborate on the “Enheduanna” project

A large-scale design competition will be held as part of the “Enheduanna” project, which unites Turkish and Italian fashion designers. The competition will feature 20 fabrics made in ancient Anatolia along with 12 historical Mesopotamian women.

The project bears Enheduanna’s name, who was the daughter of King Sargon of Akkad, one of Mesopotamia’s ancient civilizations. The project’s first meeting took place at Istanbul’s Italian Cultural Centre.

Twenty historical fabrics with geographic indications from Anatolian culture will be used in the project’s fashion design competition. The competition’s goal is to create clothing for twelve historical Mesopotamian women. Prominent figures from the fashion industry, including Özlem Erkan, Frances Venneri, Giovanni Ottonello, and Fırat Neziroğlu, will serve on the project’s jury.

A symposium of “history and culture committees” of the project, which also aims to support Anatolian women, will be held on Jan. 24-25 at Bahçeşehir University. The clothing design for the Enheduanna competition will be produced from March 6 to April 18. On May 15, the goods will be on display in a fashion show at the Rahmi M. Koç Museum.

The founder of the Anatolian Textile Network, Neziroğlu, stated that Çatalhöyük is home to the oldest fabric, proving that Anatolia is the birthplace of textiles. Turkish knots were also used to weave the oldest carpet ever discovered. The earliest known civilizations were found in Anatolia, which is also where the earliest examples of clothing culture originated.

“Anatolian weavings, which arose in the context of this ancient knowledge, have given us exceptional examples due to their climate and topography. These days, the textiles made using these techniques teach us about true sustainability and show reverence for the environment,” he continued.

Monday, January 15, 2023—Ilerioluwa “Mohbad” Aloba, the late musician, will not have his autopsy made public immediately, according to a statement from his management.

The management disputed a report that said the late singer had written his last will and testament, emphasising that if such documents had existed, they would have been submitted to the probate registry.

“Despite recent false reports to the contrary, neither Mohbad’s management team nor his attorney have disclosed the existence of a will or other thumb-printed documents to the public or any family members. Thus, we respectfully request that people refrain from disseminating this kind of false information,” the message read.

The death of Mohbad on September 12, 2023, dealt a severe blow to the Nigerian entertainment industry. The peculiar circumstances surrounding his death sparked a national call for an inquiry into his manner of death.

The primary suspect, Feyisayo Ogendengbe, a quack nurse who gave the musician injections at his home before to his death, has not yet been charged in a court of law

Ayobami Sadiq, popularly known as Spending, a buddy of Mohbad’s who invited Ogendengbe to treat the singer at his Lekki house, was also identified as a suspect, along with Primeboy, another friend who allegedly got into a physical argument with him the day before he passed away.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry are also regarded as suspects with a case to answer because of evidence connecting them to violence against Mohbad, physical abuse, threats against their lives, and cyberbullying.

The people who survive Mohbad are his mother, father, son, and wife.

  • Ghana and Cape Verde square off in AFCON 23

Ghana and Cape Verde square off in AFCON 23

Today, January 14, 2024, at 8 p.m. (GMT) at the Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium in Ivory Coast, the Black Stars of Ghana are scheduled to play Cape Verdein.

After Egypt and Mozambique’s match, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. GMT earlier in the day, this game is the second in the group B matches of the 2023 TotalEnegies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition.

Ghana and Cape Verde are playing each other at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations for the second time. In the 2013 edition, Ghana emerged victorious in their lone prior encounter, defeating their opponent 2-0.

This is Ghana’s 24th participation in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, the most after Côte d’Ivoire (25) and Egypt (26), according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). In four of their first seven appearances (1963, 1965, 1978, 1982), the Black Stars emerged victorious from the Africa Cup of Nations; however, they have failed to win any of the next sixteen.

With the exception of a 2-0 group stage victory over Guinea-Bissau in 2019, Ghana has only won one of their previous nine CAF Africa Cup of Nations games (D4 L4). However, they were eliminated in the previous AFCON’s group stages.

Their Cape Verdean counterparts, on the other hand, are making their fourth CAF Africa Cup of Nations appearance, having participated in the competition each time since 2013.

They have drawn six of their 11 games in the tournament thus far. Their two victories came against Ethiopia in 2022 (1-0) and Angola in 2013 (2-1), both in the group stages.

Despite making it through the AFCON group stages twice before (in 2013 and 2021), Cape Verde has never prevailed in a match during the competition’s knockout stage. In nine group games (W2 D6), they have only lost once, and that was against Burkina Faso in January 2022 (0-1).

The majority of Ghanaians and Cape Verdeans are excited to see this game because both teams are confident in winning because Cape Verde has never lost their opening match at a CAF Africa Cup of Nations (W1 D2).

  • Blakk Rasta asserts Cook-a-thon attempt by Chef Faila is a “suicide mission”

Blakk Rasta asserts Cook-a-thon attempt by Chef Faila is a “suicide mission”

The media personality Blakk Rasta has expressed apprehension about Chef Faila’s continuous endeavour to surpass the Guinness World Record for the lengthiest culinary marathon.

Concerns regarding possible health risks related to Chef Faila’s cook-a-thon were voiced by Blakk Rasta. He vehemently disagreed with the notion that people should deprive themselves of enough sleep for an extended length of time, calling it a “suicide mission.” Using the occasion, he issued a warning against the growing nationwide trend of different types of marathons, such as sex-a-thons, stand-a-thons, and kiss-a-thons.

Blakk Rasta stressed the importance of putting one’s own wellbeing first in a video that Happyhome TV posted on their YouTube channel. He emphasised that it is dangerous to go without sleep for longer than three days and made it clear that he could not support such initiatives. Although he commended the participants’ efforts, he hoped they would think twice about the possible long-term effects on their health.

“They want to have a sex-a-thon in Ghana. Some wish to participate in a stand-a-thon. They spend five hours standing this way. No resting or doing anything for five hours. Another desire of some is to participate in a kiss-a-thon. That was a picture of Chef Faila in Tamale going about her business. Once more, even though we adore and value them, I will not support a suicide mission.

“I also believe that going more than three days without sleep is a suicide mission. That is not something I will endorse. Regarding you, I have no idea. I refer to it as a suicide mission, but you call it pushing the envelope. He prayed that they would not perish and would take a lesson that would benefit the entire country.

The Modern City Hotel in Tamale is the venue for Chef Faila’s cook-a-thon, which has already exceeded the 200-hour mark and is scheduled to last 240 hours in total.
